Akhilesh Das Gupta School celebrated World Photography Day on 19 August 2026 with a vibrant and thought-provoking photography activity for students from Nursery to Grade 8. The celebration provided young learners with a creative platform to capture, express and share their unique perspectives through the lens.To make the activity engaging and age-appropriate, different themes were assigned class wise. Every student brought a photograph based on the given theme and shared the experience behind the photograph, the reason for choosing it, and the story or thought associated with it. Students enthusiastically spoke about their photographs, turning the activity into an opportunity for self-expression and visual storytelling.The activity helped students develop observation skills, creativity, communication skills, confidence and the ability to express ideas through visual narratives. It also encouraged them to look at their surroundings more thoughtfully and appreciate the beauty and significance of everyday moments.The thoughtfully captured photographs were displayed as an exhibition, offering a colourful and meaningful showcase of the students’ creativity and perspectives. The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation across all grades and created an enriching learning experience.Principal Ms Anjana Swami appreciated the students’ enthusiastic participation and creativity. She encouraged the students to continue observing their surroundings with curiosity and finding creative ways to express their thoughts and experiences. The celebration successfully transformed photography into a meaningful learning experience, combining creativity, observation, communication and self-expression.
